When Bungie Studios announced the Myth II bungie.net server would be closing shop imminently, a stirring occured amongst the Wolfpack.
*Ar-Isildur, ever the vigilant watcher of the online gaming community, was the first to begin spreading the news on WPHL.
Discussions broke out over the WP mailing list about holding a final orgy of multiplayer carnage on bungie.net to pay tribute to the server where it all started.
In perhaps a premature and grandiose gesture, Nevarr announced a "LAST HURRAH" to occur on the Sunday evening of Feb. 10, five days before the server was scheduled to shut down.
While the night certainly would not be Wolfpack's final visit to b.net, it was well attended, with more than eight players from every generation of the order doing Myth II the old-school way: late at night, using the classic password, wearing the order tag, randoming on team games, juggling full chaos in cooperative.
With Myth III in the wings, the maps and games of Myth II gave off the bloody whiff of sweet nostalgia: Proving Grounds, Float, Spiderweb, Desert, Clash. LMOTH, STB, Terries. Even a few runs at "The Wall" were attempted.
Scooter provided the host. SilverBrin provided the entertainment. As always, the games proved that winners aren't decided by the team roster, and that lag doesn't necessarily favor Australians over Oregonians.
