Green Acres is a stunning map by Badlands that should be taken as a work of art. Maybe it's not as good as other Badlands maps, but Green Acres no doubt proves itself as a work of art.
Green Acres has three diffrent meshes, while the gameplay uses the old school Myth: TFL system of FFA. As well as great TFL-style gameplay, Green Acres mixes in the physics of the Myth II engine.
The map shows us how sand, swampy waters, and high rock hills can all be collaged into a work of art. The map has a natural flow to it and appears as if it was made by taking a photo and placing it into the Myth world. With the scenery blending in very nicely with the terrain textures, it would not be surprising if Mother Nature had a part in creating the map. The terrain is superbly made and all the media maps are perfectly drawn without a smidge of error.
Green Acres uses the TFL-style five-start FFA formation, and using a standard light unit selection a la "I'll dance on your Grave" for one of the meshes. There is also an old school JMK mesh that uses the slugfest style units (Dwarves, Thrall, Wights, and Journeymen) from the original idea from Holy Wars (A early Myth: TFL map made by Clan Bear). This, of course, is not totally new to the Myth scene as Untamed Lands has used this in the game setting of "Last Man on the Hill." With the third mesh using the new dark units of Myth II (the dark mesh) with Wights, Dwarven Mortars, Spiders, Myrkridia, Soulless and Fetch Green Acres seems like a Myth II version of "I'll dance on your Spiderweb." The three meshes combined show the true strengh of Myth and how it can keep the old school flavor while bringing in the new, fusing the eras together to show an untold story of adventures in the world of Myth II.
Leaving no stone unturned, Badlands has made every single piece of the map a work of art. With sketch drawings in the pregames to the impeccable textures of the grasses, waters and hills, it is a wonder how they did it.
With the feeling that I have been to an art gallery and to a war gallery at the same time, and fought a war that has been told for many years, I feel satisfaction, yet feel my soul hungering for more blood!
